Russell is a keen sportsman and has recently completed a number of projects to raise funds for blood disorder charities including running 3 Marathons in 9 weeks.
He has spoken in schools and clubs to raise awareness of rare cancers, blood and bone marrow donation. He has also mentored a number of other MDS patients in coming to terms with their diagnosis.
Russell hopes to further raise awareness of the issues faced by MDS patients amongst the public and health professionals. He is keen to see rare blood disorders figure more prominently in the media and widen the scope of research.
Russell is an MDS patient who underwent 3 bone marrow transplants to successfully deal with his illness.
