Julie Grest run the London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 1st August in memory of her Dad, Thomas Hamilton, who died on the 1st of February.
Julie says in her JustGiving Page:
Dad suffered from myelodysplasia, a rare blood cancer, and it was primarily this which brought his life to an end. He was an amazing Dad and a true family man, in addition to being an exceptionally talented scientist who dedicated his career to developing drugs to combat cardiovascular disease. Please help me to raise money for MDS UK which supports those people who suffer from myelodysplasia.
I've run a few half marathons before, the last of which was in October 2019 which I completed in a time of 2 hours and 2 minutes. But this time I'm not aiming to get a new personal best. This race is just about trying to raise money for MDS UK. Anything you can give, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support, Julie!
We are so grateful to you and your friends and family for raising important funds and awareness to of MDS.
You are making a difference. All the money we get goes to assist patients and families with information, support and advice.
An hour on the helpline to newly diagnosed patients makes an immense difference to most patients.
Our online patient meetings are the next step – to help patients cope emotionally and make more sense of the medical journey they are on.
Our website and newsletter help with up-to-date information which is often needed, in particular now, in the midst of the covid 19 pandemic.
All requires time and funds.
With your help – we can help.
Many thanks from the MDS UK Team
