Quick post about my trip to Australia last month and getting my EPO there cold! Nightmare scenario as it's about 30 hours door to door, and who knows where your bags end up when they're in transit. Anyway....I talked to Janet the amazing clinical nurse specialist at Kings in Denmark Hill and she suggested getting a cold bag leaving the EPO in my hold luggage as the temperatures there are lower than in the cabin. So....
Bought a specialist Insulin travel case from Amazon that had 4 ice packs in it (Eono by Amazon - Insulin Bag Diabetic Organizer Portable Medical Travel Cooler Case with 4 Ice Packs).
I put the ice packs in the freezer for 24 hours and put the whole case and it's protective insert in the fridge to get it to the same temperature as the EPO (reducing the amount of work the ice packs needed to day) then packed it in my hold luggage last minute before we left the house.
Result: 30 hours later, the EPO was still cool, definitely not as cold as if it had been in the but I was happily surprised.
I think that if EPO isn't refrigerated, it's safe to use within 7 days anyway, but going for 3 weeks meant I needed to take 2 syringes with me.
