I worked as a Lecturer and College Manager in Business and Teacher Education at various colleges across the country since 1984. I found this very rewarding, and particularly enjoyed working with students with special educational needs and those not in employment, education or training.

I was very involved in extra curricular activities and have accompanied several groups on work experience/residential courses both in this country and abroad as part of European Union initiatives.

Unfortunately having been diagnosed with MDS (MLD) I was unable to continue with my career and had no option but to take retirement on ill health in 2017.

Since then I have done my best to find out and understand more about MDS and am an active member of the local Maggies haematology support group on the Wirral.

I wanted to become a committee member to give something back to the MDS community and support other patients in the Cheshire and Merseyside area.

I try to maintain a positive attitude and focus on the things I can do rather than dwell on the things I used to do.
