Diary of a Bone marrow transplant

Postby PWHP19 » 08 Apr 2018 22:27

My Wife was Diagnosed beginning in August 2017, Here we are now April just four days away from her transplant our wedding anniversary.

What a journey it has been firstly finding out a disease we had never heard off and the shock she could only live 5 years. Theam at both the Churchill and Stoke Mandeville have been great both with her treatment but also explaining what her options are along with how it goes.

Last Tuesday she arrived had her pick line and got her room ready Two days for a 12-hour drug regular checks with the only complication being a rise in her temperature followed by Kemo for 3days.

She is allowed home with for 4 nights but back each day for her Kemo but with a list of drugs to take. Then back to the final drugs (that are supposed to be the difficult ones.

So far so good.

Will update as we go.

Thank you for taking the time to post here. I hope things are progressing and your wife responds well to the treatment. Be nice to yourself too, take up offers of help and assistance. Chemo makes you tired but its accumulative so it gives false hopes at the beginning that's it's not so bad, but it does depend on the person too.
Take care, thinking of you both
