Hi to all in Essex

I am more than happy to organise a meeting - after all there are so few of us that it's quite an event to meet somebody else with MDS and even then they may not have the same type of MDS!!! I realise that sometimes travelling is difficult if people are tired because of their MDS or have worries about infections. I think a good way forward would be to reply either on the public forum by clicking on Post reply or, if you prefer not to post on the public forum, reply to me only by clicking on PM (post message).

Please say:

Where you are from (nearest big town)
What time of the day you would prefer to meet
How soon you would like a meeting
Any topics you would like us to discuss
Whether you would like an MDS specialist to come and speak to us
Any special considerations you have for attending the meeting (access facilities for wheelchairs, downstair room etc etc)
Anything else I have not thought of!

Just to let all know that we had our first Essex Regional Group meeting on 18th October in Chelmsford. There were 9 of us there, 5 MDS patients and 4 of their supporters. It was good to be able to share our experiences of MDS and we are planning another meeting in December, details of which will go on the website as soon as it is booked.

If anybody from Essex reads this post and wants to come along, please contact me or Sophie.

Message from Chris:
I am pleased to invite you to the next meeting of the MDS Patient Support Group (Essex). This will be at the same venue, Central Baptist Church, on Thursday, 16 May 2013 from 10-1. As well as our usual session, updating each other on how our MDS is affecting us, we plan this time to talk about our experiences with obtaining travel insurance so please bring along any difficult /successful experiences, as well as details of any particular companies who you have found helpful.

IMPORTANT: I would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance as soon as possible but by by 13th May (Monday) at the latest as I do need to let the venue know about the refreshments.
The event is free to MDS patients and their families as it will be funded by MDS UK Patient Support.

We were also successful in raising £576 from the Waitrose Community Matters Scheme which will help to fund our future meetings in Essex.
