NHS Exceptional Funding for Treatment

Booklet available:"Treatment we need" - Peter Telford.
Website for electronic copy of "Treatment we need" booklet
If you are experiencing problems with PCT's (Primary Care Trust) refusing to fund a particular treatment on the NHS, there is a booklet available to help you to apply for exceptional funding for treatment.
The booklet contains background information, a glossary of terms, a step by step of the whole process and template letters.
This may be particularly relevant at the moment for treatments not yet recommended by NICE - even if your consultant is recommending the drug.
This booklet has been written by a barrister - Peter Telford - who is also a member if the National Alliance for Rare Disease.
He has also written another booklet called "Your Patients Right to Treatment" 2008 - for consultants.

Please contact us for a hard copy of the patient booklet - or pick one up at one of our patient forums.
The next patient forum is in Cambridge on the 20th November.
