Windsor Great Park Walk

Sunday 18th May 2014

Windsor Walk 2014 Once again we join the Aplastic Anaemia Trust charity walk in the beautiful Windsor Great Park.
We are finding this event is becoming increasingly popular with aplastic anaemia and MDS patients and their families who enjoy the opportunity to meet others and exchange experiences.
There are three beautiful walks of 6km, 10km and 16km to choose from which are ideal for families and individuals alike.

Registration starts at 9.15am with staggered starts from 10am so that everyone finishes in time for a hog roast lunch at 1.00pm.

Important: Registration is £10.00 per adult and £5.00 per child.
This fee goes to the AAT for organising this event.

If you wish to turn this walk into a fundraising opportunity for MDS UK – please read on.

For more information please contact the AAT office or email: info@theaat.org.uk

AAT Windsor walk 2011Organising such a walk is extresuming – we do not have the necessary staff to deal with this.  It is therefore much easier to team up with AAT who have set up this walk 6 years ago and have very kindly invited us to participate.  Thank you to Anna and Bryony and all the volunteers on the day. This will be the 4th year MDS UK is joining this walk brilliantly organised by the Aplastic Anaemia Trust (AAT).

The walk is set up around Virginia Water lake – near Virginia Water, south part of the Windsor Park, not far from Sunningdale.
A very beautiful part of the park – flowers, water features, fields and coffee spots.

Please come and join us and bring friends and family.  Children love it, dogs too.
The day starts mid-morning and there will be again several options to walk – 6km, 10km and 16km walk.  Or you could just sit and enjoy the park and support the walkers.
If you are unsure whether you can cope with the walk – The AAT have little buggies – and will come to your rescue if you need help – so no need to worry.
This year – instead of a picnic, the AAT has organised a hog roast – so that everyone is able to meet, mingle and chat.
Vegetarian options will be available.
We look forward to seeing everyone again – and enjoy the sunshine, great company and great food.

Please make sure you register with the AAT – and send them your registration fee – to cover the basic costs (signs, assistance, water stops, safety marshalls etc):

HOW TO HELP MDS UK a bit more:
If you wish – you can also raise funds for MDS UK. You can use Virgin Money Giving to get your friends, colleagues, neighbours to sponsor you to walk.

In 2012 we raised close to £6,000 pounds!

£5,000 is roughly what it costs to set up one of our main annual patient information days in London.
We are also continuing our nationwide “Assessment for Support in MDS” Project – which will take 3 years in total to complete.   The first 60 questionnaires have been received – and we already were able to use some of this important information.

So, come as a group and meet others – and raise awareness of MDS that way too.
Get sponsored online via Virgin Money Giving page:
Create your own virginmoneygiving page for MDS UK

Or join our MDS Club page – we will add your name to the list of official walkers – and your sponsors can leave a personal message with their donation:  Coming up!

Or use good old-fashioned paper forms – coming up asap!
