8th May 2011 – Windsor Fun and Fundraising Walk

The MDS UK Patient Support Group is teaming up with the AAT – Aplastic Anaemia Trust for a great day out in Windsor Park on Sunday 8th May 2011.

This is the 5th year for the AAT Windsor Great Park Walk, and we hope to organise further combined fundraising events in the future. Funds raised by MDS patients and carers will go to MDS UK Patient Support Group.

The Great Park is the only Royal Park managed by the Crown Estate Commissioners and extends over some 14,000 acres of which 8,000 acres are forest.

The public areas are predominantly woodland or open grassland. A wide variety of forest trees thrive, including beech, oak, sweet chestnut, birch and conifers.

Virginia Water a beautiful man-made lake covering 130 acres dates back to 1753. Its name is thought to be taken from the State of Virginia, in America, itself named after Queen Elizabeth. To the east of the Great Park is The Savill Garden, where in May the rhododendrons and azaleas are at their best. Here too there is a lake.

So why not bring your family and friends along for a walk, lunch and a wonderful family day out.
