UPDATE – post run
Watch the fantastic video above of Caitlin and the Turks Head Run.
With interviews of why this run takes place every year – and why Caitlin and the Bearcat Runners are so committed to assisting and involving their community.
We thank Caitlin and all the runners, helpers, sponsors who have taken part
– they helped raise £850 for MDS UK – as part of the registration fee.
But more funds were donated as well – which we are so grateful for.
The photo below gives a great flavour of the day !
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!
We are also so immensely grateful for all those who got swabbed
to register as potential stem cell donors.
Thank you to Delete Blood Cancer for attending on the day and working closely with us
to improve the chances of survival for MDS patients.
Announcing the 2015 Turks Head Fun Run
On behalf of Caitlin Limmer, the founder of The BeaRCat Running Club, and one of our great supporters, we are delighted to announce the return of the “friendliest community 10k fun runs” this summer.
The Turks Head 10k Fun Run will start again at 10 am on 7th June 2015 on Marble Hill Park Riverside and will follow the beautiful route of Thames towpath along Teddington Lock Bridge, Ham House, Petersham Fields and Richmond Upon Thames before finishing back in Marble Hill Park. Click here to see the route map.
The race is organised to bring the local community together and for that reason it’s open to all abilities over the age of 15 willing to join.
Joining the race will not only help to improve one’s running but will also give you the opportunity to support our charity.
The Bearcat Running Club raises funds for our charity throughout the year and will also dedicate an extra £1 from every registration to support us.
There are also other benefits to consider:
Prizes – for the first 6 male and female runners, as well as the spot prize fro all runners.
Goody bag – last year’s goody bag was worth at least £35 (David Lloyd day pass, David Lloyd water bottle, Waldegrave clinic ice pack, money off Sweatshop, can of Fullers beer, medal, T shirt, bottle of Gatorade, cool clip water bottle, bananas, A2 cows and milk, fortune cookies, prawn crackers, and also… an MDS UK leaflet, to help raise awareness of the rare blood disorder and our charity).
Pre race warm up
Water station
The Race will be started by a local inspirational hero – last year’s hero was Russell Cook, our Committee member and an MDS patient who run 3 marathons for 3 transplant (he has had) in 2014
Trumpet fanfare to send you off
Plus a special extra SURPRISE STATION ON ROUTE!
Post Race Massage
The Turks Head 10k Fun Run is very much about the community, and in line with the ethos of the club “People first, running a very close second”, Caitlin promises “not just a race, but a one day party starting with a fantastic community race and ending with a day of music, BBQ and fun at the Turks Hear bringing everyone together”.
This is a truly terrific initiative! Huge thank you to Caitlin, the entire Bearcat Running Club and all involved.
We wish you a fantastic day!
