For a month, our amazing Chairman, Ted Peel, is “rocking down to” the end of his communal drive and back for 26 minutes a day to raise vital funds for MDS UK.
In the spirit of the “2.6 challenge”, Ted is relishing the chance to keep fit for his bone marrow transplant later this year, which was postponed due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Ted will have his headphones blasting out his favourite running music, inspiring him to “run, baby run” with “every beat of his heart.”
I used to go to the gym all the time to stay fit. I was diagnosed with MDS 5 years ago and was quite healthy, but more recently I’ve had sepsis three times. My treatment has been delayed until Covid is under control.
I always used to go to the gym, but they’re all now closed, and I’m in total lockdown due to my condition. It’s so essential to raise funds now as MDS UK has recently ventured into clinical research to understand more about MDS.
I want to get fit for my stem cell transplant, as I may not make it through otherwise, while raising funds for MDS UK so we can continue to progress and support people. It’s time to think big and be active!
With “nowhere to run”, Ted can’t “go on the run”, and while he doesn’t expect to “walk 500 miles”, he will be working up a sweat, and aims to raise £2000 for MDS UK!
If you would like to be part of Ted’s virtual “band on the run”, please visit Ted's JustGiving event page to donate to the event!
Ted would also like to mention Anthony Nolan UK, who will be providing his transplant and Leukaemia UK, as his grandson has sadly been diagnosed with AML and requires an urgent transplant. Please support them if you can, too!
Should you have a virtual idea like Ted’s and want some advice, please contact Jan Edwards (Fundraising Officer) on firstname.lastname@example.org. We will also shortly be rolling out our virtual events campaign.
