"2020 will be a milestone year for me. I will be entering my 10th year post my third bone marrow transplant. Hardly a day goes by without me thanking my lucky stars. I really have been extremely lucky. My hope is that I can get some people behind me to raise funds for MDS UK.
MDS (or ‘Myelodysplastic Syndrome’) is a rare blood cancer. It’s blights a thankfully small number of people but it is very serious and life threatening. You really, REALLY, don’t want it. Only 1 in 10 of the 2500 patients diagnosed each year will get the chance of a cure - a bone marrow transplant. It’s a nuclear option that only a few will be able to undergo
I’m raising money for MDS UK because they are the ONLY Charity dedicated to supporting MDS sufferers. It’s a small Charity with huge ambition but it needs your help both financially and in time. Please support me in running this race and support a really great Charity whose impact is out of all proportion to its size"
Taking place on on Sunday 8 September 2019, the Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September.
And we have an amazing team running for MDS UK Patient Support Group:
