Please do join the runners - either by participating yourself, attending and supporting or encouraging others to take part. It is a truly fun day - with fantastic people and a terrific atmosphere.
We hugely thank the Chase Buchanan runners: Colin Deer, Michael Peacock, Malcolm Hall, John Sawyer, Emily Francombe, Dawn Platt, Samantha Collins, Nadeem Younus, and Chris Brookshaw.
A big THANK YOU to all sponsors for their generosity. Thank you so much on behalf of all MDS Patients and their families.
A race like that raises crucial awareness of rare diseases and smaller charities amongst the general public. We need as much help as possible in order to carry on our work of supporting patients and campaigning with them.
Here are the details for the race day:
The Race
The Cabbage Patch 10 is a highly professional race almost as old as The London Marathon! It is one of the flattest, most scenic, ten mile races in the country aimed at runners of all standards on roads and towpaths. Starting in King Street, Twickenham, the route crosses the Thames at Kingston Bridge and Richmond Bridge, runs along the Riverside to finish on the drive in front of the York House Civic Building in Twickenham. This year the Cabbage 10 will be 35 years old, and is directed by our unstoppable fundraiser Caitlin Limmer, founder of The Bearcat Running Club.
The date is Sunday 16 October 2016, the time 9.30am.
There are no entries on the day, so register in advance if you'd like to take part.
Race Headquarters
Race HQ is the Cabbage Patch pub opposite Twickenham railway station, managed now by Stuart Green who will also be working to make the day run smoothly, from opening up for the runners early in the morning to feeding the marshals at the end of the day and so much more in between.
Prizes
Prize giving at The Cabbage Patch Pub after the race gives a famous Cabbage of course, and big prize money for both male and female runners - see PRIZES here. Two pedal bikes and a Garmin GPS watch are also given away as a spot prizes. To qualify to win one of these on the spot prizes, runners must place their race number in the bin provided and be present in person to collect the prize.
As they cross the finish line, all runners will receive long sleeve top - and this year a medal will be introduced too.
