Cycling 15-20 miles a day with a Mum in hospital recovering from a transplant and a family to look after is a huge ask. Incredibly, Lisa did not only manage this, but cycled an extra 100 miles! That’s 600 miles in May alone!
Despite an initial setback, the task gave Lisa a real focus while her Mum recovers and she feels overwhelmed by the generosity of her supporters.
“I completed 500 miles with 3 days left so I decided to push myself and continue through the month. I feel proud to have cycled 600 miles, fitting the challenge around my family commitments.
“On day 2, I fell off my bike which knocked my confidence a bit. Being a fair-weather cyclist, I found the grey and windy days challenging. Luckily, for most of May it was glorious which made it easier.
“I am so grateful for people’s kindness during the challenge which definitely inspired me to keep going, especially when my legs were tired from the day before.
“To other budding cyclists, I say go for it! It gave me a focus during a difficult time, and I felt like I was making a difference. The physical challenge also had its benefits and I believe I’ve motivated others to start riding and keep fit.
