One of our fundraisers, Lisa Southon, is mid-way through her 500-mile virtual cycle challenge and needs your support to raise more vital funds for MDS UK!
Lisa’s Mum is currently in hospital having just undergone a bone marrow transplant, so these are testing times for her entire family.
Mounting her bike and cycling every day is motivation as her Mum recovers, while keeping fit and maintaining her mental health during lockdown.
Lisa discovered the event on the community Facebook page, which she joined so she could keep in touch with how others deal with MDS.
With current restrictions preventing organised events, it was a perfect opportunity to fundraise so we can continue to support Lisa and others battling MDS.
Lisa said to us:
“My mum is still in hospital after having her transplant and is now out of intensive care. However, she has good days and bad days.”
“Getting on my bike every day gives me some relief and I’m doing something worthwhile and contributing during the Covid19 pandemic.”
“I enjoy that moment where I get on the bike, cycle, and raise money so MDS UK can continue its great work.”
To date, Lisa has raised £285 for us- 142% of her £200 target! It’s an incredible achievement, but with a third of May left, Lisa wants to push (or pedal) this even higher!
