Date: | 24/09/2017 |
On the 24 September Lingyi Yang and Judith Lesowiec are going to run the Robin Hood Half Marathon in aid of MDS UK Patient Support Group.
They are running in memory of their late head of sixth form, Mr Phil Winstanley, who sadly passed away from MDS.
Phil spent most of his working life in education, latterly as head of sixth form at West Bridgford School. His students remembered him fondly.
Lingyi and Judith say in their Virgin Money Giving Page
We are dedicating this run to our late head of sixth form, Mr Phil Winstanley. He made such a big impact in our lives but left too soon due to a form of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). MDS is a blood disease where the number of healthy blood cells drop. People with MDS can then develop acute myeloid leukemia, cancer of the blood cells.
Therefore, our chosen charity is MDS UK Patient Support Group. These diseases are not well publicised and this charity provides support to those affected by the illness and their families. This is our first half marathon, please support us for a great cause in any way you can.
Lingyi and Judith have already raised a fantastic £170.00 and you can still donate on their page. Help them beat their £200 target! We are enormously grateful for any donations, big or small.
Thanks a million, to Lingyi, Judith and their friends and family for thinking of our small charity. All donations will go to support MDS patients and their families and give them the attention and information they need during those particularly difficult times – straight after diagnosis, at treatment changes, time of transplant or progression of the condition.
