Carly and her mum Jacqui are organising a cake and fizz lovely event to fundraise and raise awareness on MDS.
Jacqui was recently diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome). She is on a watch and wait program and is being monitored by her consultant.
Carly says in their Virgin Money Giving Page;
We have decided to raise awareness of this rare condition and the importance of giving blood and registering to be a bone marrow donor.
Post Event Update:
We had a raffle, guess the weight of the cake, guess how many sweets in the jar, how many balloons in the car, Pin the Prosecco and played bingo! Donations were also made on arrival. The cakes were all made and decorated by myself and Mum and a few of our friends brought some along later on in the evening.
The fundraising target was £200.00 but they had an amazing success and raised £550.00, £637.50 including gift aid from Virgin Money Giving plus £800.90 cash from events on the day.
The total amount raised = £1438.40
I managed to get a few people to register to give blood and asked everyone that already donated to check they are on the bone marrow register.
"We had an overwhelming amount of support from our family and friends and everyone is commenting on what a brilliant time they had.
We’re over the moon and had a fantastic time."
We are incredibly grateful to Carly, Jacqui and all their friends and sponsors for their support.
Thanks to you we are able to support MDS Patients and their love ones at those critical moments when anxiety strikes.
We provide a 1-2-1 helpline opened 5 days a week, organise local meetings and maintain an updated website and Facebook Group, among other activities.
Thanks for making this possible.
