Essex Local patient meeting 17th Jan 2013

The second Essex Local group has now been scheduled – following a successful meeting mid November.

This second local meeting will be again organised by Chris Dugmore – one of our MDS UK committee member – who lives in Essex.

When: 10am – 1pm, Thursday 17th January 2013

We will sometimes  invite some speakers to this local meeting – as per wishes of the attendees.  Nurses are welcome to attend as well.  But mainly this is the opportunity for patients to meet one another.  Later on members could possibly organise other events and get more closely involved with issues raised by MDS UK.

Dr Pavel Koutocek, Consultant Haematologist  from Colchester Hospital has agreed to speak to us informally about MDS and currently available treatments.  This information has been sent out to all local haematology departments but please take a poster if you are attending clinics in the next week or so and check that staff are displaying it!)

Herewith a link to the map for the venue.  Tea, coffee and home-made mince pies will be provided on arrival. The cafe Oasis at this venue is open for lunch until 1.30 should anybody wish to stay for a light lunch or there are plenty of eating places in Chelmsford.

As well as the Park and Ride, there is the High Chelmer multi-storey opposite the venue which has a number of disabled parking spaces if you have a blue badge. There are also a number of disabled parking spaces in Market Road and at the venue itself but please contact them in advance if you wish to use it.  Please see link to parking map of Chelmsford.

IMPORTANT: I would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance by 14th January (Monday) as I do need to let the venue know about the refreshments.  The event is free to MDS patients and their families as it will be funded by MDS UK Patient Support.
