Message from Chris – our local organiser:
I am pleased to invite you to the next meeting of the MDS Patient Support Group (Essex). This will be at the same venue, Central Baptist Church, on Thursday, 13th March 2013 from 10-12. (Please note shorter meeting time).
As well as our usual session, updating each other on how our MDS is affecting us, I have invited Pauline Bird, Clinical Manager of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service at Mid Essex NHS Trust to come and speak to us about neutropenic diets. This is an important topic for those of us who have low levels of neutrophils (white blood cells) as an aspect of MDS and also those who are receiving chemotherapy (e.g. Azacitidine) which lowers levels of white cells.
I would be very grateful if you could make every effort to attend as arranging this has not been easy and it is a very relevant topic.
Please feel free to invite your own haematology nurse specialist or dietician to this meeting – but do inform Chris beforehand please.
Please help us to spread the news:
We have sent this invitation and poster out to all local haematology departments but please take it along if you are attending clinics in the next week.
Please also check it is displayed in your hospital.
Additionally, if your GP surgery or library would display it, we might reach some more MDS patients who are out there but do not know we exist!
Herewith a link to the map for the venue. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on arrival. The cafe Oasis at this venue is open for lunch until 1.30 should anybody wish to stay for a light lunch or there are plenty of eating places in Chelmsford.

As well as the Park and Ride, there is the High Chelmer multi-storey opposite the venue which has a number of disabled parking spaces if you have a blue badge. There are also a number of disabled parking spaces in Market Road and at the venue itself but please contact them in advance if you wish to use it. Please see link to parking map of Chelmsford.

IMPORTANT: I would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance as soon as possible but by 6th March (Monday) at the latest as I do need to let the venue know about the refreshments.
Equally – if you need to cancel your attendance – please inform me as quickly as possible.
The event is free to MDS patients and their families as it is funded by MDS UK Patient Support.
