To celebrate the Year of the Dragon, Tonbridge School, in Tonbridge, Kent have agreed to host a Charity Art Exhibition on the 27th January, 2012 in their Tunnel Gallery at 6.30 – 8pm to help raise awareness and funds for MDS patients.
Chinese artists and parents from Hong Kong have kindly donated a wide range of Chinese art including photography and pottery. 20% of the proceeds of sale will be donated to MDS UK.
The dragon symbolises the emperor, wealth power and auspiciousness.
We are extremely grateful to Tim Haynes, the Headmaster of Tonbridge School and both the Chinese and Art Departments, for working so tirelessly to make the Chinese Exhibition such a success.
Approximately, 80 people attended and had the opportunity to purchase an extensive range of limited photographs, depicting the Jiuzhaigou area, Sichuan Province, 2,000 metres above sea level, with beautiful, lakes waterfalls and forests. There were also many other photographs of Tibet, including the highest salt lake in the world, Namucuo Lake together with the highest railway track. The photographs also included the giant Panda’s from the Panda Research Station, famously known for their laziness. The exhibition, featured many pieces of original artwork, costumes and artefacts generously donated by Chinese artists and parents from Hong Kong.
We are delighted that the event was reported in the Tonbridge Courier and that we were contacted by both the local MP’s Sir John Stanley (Tonbridge and Malling) and Greg Clark (Tunbridge Wells) which will help to raise awareness.
