3 marathons for 3 transplants !

Russell Cook is now on an epic triple whammy marathon challenge this year!
If you don’t yet know Russell – please check our website for previous events – we have many!
To celebrate his 3 year transplant anniversary (from his 3 transplants) he has scheduled a mammuth 3 marathons:

Rome – March 23rd
London – April 13th
Edinburgh – May 25th

He also mentions he has a little “warm up race in the form of the Reading Half Marathon on March 2nd”

We are very much in awe of all this energy and dedication – and truly grateful for the MDS awareness this is raising everywhere.

Please support Russell by attending the marathons in London and Edinburgh if you can.
It would be fabulous to have a Russell Welcome Ceremony – and supporters encouraging him at the half-point and welcoming him at the finish line.

I am running in the Rome Marathon, London Marathon and the Edinburgh Marathon in 2014. It is a personal challenge to do more, go further, and live life to the full. To celebrate surviving 3 years after 3 transplants. I want to show that there is light at the end of the tunnel for those suffering from life threatening blood disorders. It costs around £100 to prepare a bone marrow donor to save a life. I’d like to help save 100 lives. Can you imagine it?

In addition to raising funds I’m keen to raise awareness of my own particular disease – Myelodysplastic Syndrome or ‘MDS’.

MDS is a rare blood disorder that can have a devastating effect on sufferers. One of the Charities I support is the MDS UK Patients Support Group who, in cooperation with Leukaemia Care offer help and guidance to sufferers and families. I continue to raise funds for The Anthony Nolan Trust, whose research and support meant that I had a second stab at life. I hope you will look at their pages to learn a bit more about them:
